    The design of this stamp is a copy of the 3c 1870 Canada “small head” issue, merely replacing Queen Victoria’s head with Liberia’s “Seal of the Repbulic.” Engraved by D. Feldwick and lithographed by T. F. Todhunter. Perf. 10½, white paper. The red copy is not a forgery, but a color trial. However, an excellent black facsimile exists perforated 12 on yellowish paper, allegedly produced by François Fournier, and superior in every detail to the poorly printed original.
